I had never seen Tongues Untied until our screening but had heard so much about it and had seen how it has influenced so many of my peers which is why I was excited to finally have the opportunity to see the film. One of my peers in my media studies senior seminar has been so inspired by the film that she is actually creating a film for her capstone project that has similar aspects of Tongues Untied. When she presented her media studies project she explained how part of what she wanted her film to convey was the silence that POC students feel across the campuses. When watching Tongues Untied I was able to see exactly how the film inspired her project and how combining elements of poetry, spoken word and documentary footage can create  a piece of art that is truly original.
