Examining Occupy Wall Street as a movement demonstrated the power of social media and social change. I came across an article written by Micah White who was a leading activist in Occupy Wall Street. In this article he gives advice to student protesters and what he learned from his experiences. Among his advice he said to use different tactics to protest, always have a global perspective, and “social movements require a willing historical moment.”

I found this article interesting as it illustrates the tactics involved in creating effective protests. It is interesting to see how protests have changed over the years, however many of them are still fighting for the same issues. As we continue to learn and develop new creative tactics in protesting, we will hopefully see more change in our society.
