In the opening scene of “The Society of the Spectacle”, there are a lot nude women shown, and a lot of intimate scenes with women. What I found really interesting about these scenes was that although they were naked, they weren’t sexual- the women weren’t being over sexualized as they are now so often portrayed. Naked women are rarely displayed nowadays in media because it is seen as inappropriate. And when they are showed topless, it is usually very sexual. The media and shift in media has played a role in how women are being portrayed. With porn, and ads objectifying women, women are constantly being seen as sexual objects. And this is so different from the movie we watched on Monday, that just showed naked women as humans.
