As I said in class, Colin Kaepernick has become a villain to some and a political activist/hero to others. The media, particularly the news sources, have created him as one of the two, depending on what news source it is. For example, the the more leaning right-winged news sources such as FOX NEWS, The Bill O’Reilly Show, etc. What I have begun to notice throughout the more right-wing sources is that they are very careful on who they pick to be on there show, I guess that’s for news sources in general. But for these sources that are leaning more to the right they have patterns of people who they decide to pick as people to be interviewed. Such as ex-NFL football players who identify as republicans, or current veterans or retired veterans. They say things like he is a terrorist, or he deserves to not be in this country anymore, or even called him an ape. The main theme of the right wing is that he is a villain.

However, on the other side of the spectrum news sources such as CNN, MSNBC, or even satirical news sources like The Daily Show, The Last Week Tonight, or the Colbert Report are usually a little bit more leaning to the left. They tended to have the pattern of getting famous african americans on the shows to discuss the issue that Colin has addressed such as, Jim Brown, Spike Lee, and even Jamie Fox. All of which agreed and joined Kaepernick in his protest. These news outlets I feel have the impression that they are a neutral and not bias news source, but in reality they do lean to the left more. They tend to have the overall theme that Colin is expressing his rights of free speech and also that he is addressing an issue that needs to be in the spotlight and figured out how to solve.
