From the book Society of the Spectacle, by Guy Debord. Debord critiques contemporary consumer culture and commodity fetishism.  One of the issues he deals with is mass media. In a consumer society, social life is not about living but about having;  the spectacle uses the image to convey what people need and must have, and mass media plays a huge part in that. This TEDx talk discusses how mass media turns us into Label Mongers and what are the consequences to mass media in our society.
