Our class discussion reminded me of a video project by a human rights organization in Israel-Palestine, B’Tselem, which has been running since 2007. As is elaborated in B’Tselem’s website, the “camera distribution project” is a “video advocacy project” that provides “Palestinians living in high-conflict areas with video cameras, with the goal of bringing the reality of their lives under occupation to the attention of the Israeli and international public.”

The project has worked to expose everything from Palestinians’ daily lives under military occupation and routine intimidation from soldiers and settlers as well as documenting and exposing events (murders of Palestinians) that are so often kept secret by the military. The project is making Israelis confront the reality of the occupation they are supporting and perpetuating through Palestinian agency and authorship.

I recommend looking at their website. They have a lot of really cool projects that are worth checking out.

This is a really cool project and offers a new perspective to people. It is also very brave of the people risking their lives to film these events.
