This year I was shocked to learn that many major retailers opened in the evening on Thanksgiving Day. Many believe that people should be with their families and talking about the history behind Thanksgiving, however many retailers argue that they need to compete and meet quotas on the most important shopping day of the year. Some businesses decided to become a disrupter and shut down on Black Friday. One business that stood out was REI. They shut down and paid their employees as well. Are there any solutions for businesses to make profit, but be respectful of their employees and consumers as well?
